Pikora style guide · Second-hand

How to style a second-hand piece

In short: Three outfits for one pre-loved piece — everyday: with jeans and trainers; work: with tailoring and loafers; evening: with one plain colour and a heel. A second-hand piece is usually the most interesting thing you wear, so give it the lead and keep everything around it simple.

Everyday

Weekends, errands, coffee

Wear the piece with straight jeans, a plain white or grey top and clean trainers. A vintage knit or a worn-in leather jacket looks deliberate next to basics, not dated.

Work

Office, meetings, client days

Put it with tailored trousers or a midi skirt and loafers. A pre-loved blazer or wool coat over a fine knit reads polished; keep the colours in one family so the piece looks chosen, not found.

Evening

Dinner, drinks, a night out

Let a second-hand silk shirt, satin skirt or embellished jacket carry the look. Everything else in one dark colour, plus a small bag and a heel or pointed flat.

Let one pre-loved piece lead. Keep the rest plain and in one colour family.
